Atípica Films is a Spanish independent Audiovisual Production Company founded by José Antonio Félez and Cristina Sutherland in 2009, to produce high quality content of interest for general audiences.
In the last years, Atypical Films has produced some of the most important hits of the Spanish Industry such as Primos (Cousinhood), Grupo 7 (Unit 7), La gran familia española (Family United), La isla mínima (Marshland), El hombre de las mil caras (Smoke & Mirrors) or Diecisiete (Seventeen).
We work closely with some of the most relevant talents of the Spanish film industry such as directors Alberto Rodríguez and Daniel Sánchez Arévalo or scriptwriter & showrunner Rafael Cobos, among others.
In 2015, together with Movistar, Atípica Films produced six-episode TV show, La Peste (The Plague), one of the biggest and most ambitious productions to be made in Spain. After the successful first season, the second was released in november 2019.
In 2019 we have also developed the latest work of Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, Diecisiete (Seventeen), a Netflix Original movie screened as part of the Official Selection of the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
We are currently working on the development of different and exciting projects and will shortly announce more details.

So far, our productions accumulate 150 national awards, including 26 Goya Awards, and 72 international awards, as a result of our efforts to deliver the highest quality content.
Prior to Atípica Films, José Antonio Félez founded Tesela P.C., a Production Company that produced 22 Films between 1999 and 2009. El Bola (Pellet), La Fuga (The Escape), Noviembre (November), Roma (Rome), Elsa y Fred (Elsa & Fred), El Viento (The Wind), 7 Vírgenes (7 Virgins), AzulOscuroCasiNegro (DarkBlueAlmostBlack), 8 Citas (8 Dates) and Gordos (Fat People) are a few of these titles.
